Unity Challenge: Let It Snow!

I really enjoyed doing a card for the Unity Challenge this month. Their theme is "Let It Snow" and with all the snowy weather lately I thought that it would be an excellent time to take part! Now, I'm not the one to love snow...no...not at all. I love the fall and its cool weather and the trees changing color and Halloween coming and...well, you get the point! Winter and its 7+ month of snow and ice...well...I'm not much of a fan. I don't mind being cool but I don't like to be cold. But, I do have a wonderful DH who does not mind taking the kids out into the white stuff and a new craft room for me to play in this Winter. I can see it now...DH and the kids gone off sledding, me in my cozy craftroom making cards and scrapbook the day away. You know what?! I think I'm going to change my mind on this whole "not a fan of Winter" thing! I think it sounds pretty good now!! LOL!

Anyways, enough of me boring you to death about my love/hate relationship with Old Man Winter! On to the card!

To keep with the snow theme I embossed a piece of blue paper with a new snowflakes folder that I got receintly for my Big Shot. I love that machine! I distressed the edges of the embossed paper and the mat with my distress tool and inked the edges a bit. I added a little ribbon and then some red rubber goodness in the form of Unity and {ippity} stamps! The mittens came in a grab bag of stamps that I got from the Unity Stamp Co. website a while back...I'm not sure of the set it belongs too. The "warmest wishes" sentiment came from the {ippity} set "Season of Joy" which is the most PERFECT set for the holidays!

I hope you liked my card! Thanks for stopping by!

Love, Patricia

IT'S CHRISTMAS!!!

No, not really! If it was that "IT'S CHRISTMAS" statement would be followed by me running and hiding! I haven't even STARTED any Christmas prep yet! So, don't worry...it's not Christmas. It IS the {ippity}Christmas in October Blog Hop though!!!

So, if you are coming from Sarah's blog then you are on the right track. If you want to start from the beginning you can go over to Heathers blog. There is also a list at the end of this post in case you get lost!

For this hop I decided to get out 'ol faithful...the "Season of Joy" set. I LOVE this set! just take a look.

And here is my project...I apologise for the photo...the lighting here at the time was HORRIBLE! I will take another one as soon as I can and update the post.

This is one of those wooden frames from Michael's. I painted it white, then Modge Podged some designer paper to the front. I didn't worry about having it perfectly cut to size. This was because I wanted to sand the edges anyway, so the paper was "cut" by that. I like the whole distress look! Then I added a little white ribbon bow to the upper left corner and the two stamps from the "Season of Joy" set...and of course I heat embossed it! I can't wait to get a picture of the boys to put in it when Christmas gets here! Hopefully I will be ready for the holiday then!

Well, that's it...almost! I have a little blog candy to give away! I will send a few random ippity stamps to one lucky person who comments on my blog! I will pick a name through the random generator who is my 4-year-old (his birthday is today!!! Happy Birthday Nicholas!!) and my DH's hat! Check back tomorrow for the winner.

Your next stop is Maria who, I am positive, will have an awesome project to show you! Don't forget to leave a comment to be entered to win my blog candy.

Happy Easter Monday!!

Its Monday! YAY! That means it is H{ippity} Hop time! So, you know the drill. If this is your first stop hop on over to the {ippity} Blog to see what's going on. There is also a list of blogs to visit there too.

Today I have a birthday card to show you. I made it for my SIL...I hope she likes it! I got the idea for this card (and the AWESOME tutorial!) over on Cindy's blog. She rocks the tri-shutter card!! If you want a great tutorial on how to do these you should check out her blog, The Crafty Frugalista.

I am also entering this card into the Unity Challenge, which is to use a bird or birds on a card.

Now, here is the card:

I totally copied Cindy's card found here. For this one I used three {ippity} sets, "Party Hat Wishes", "Season of Joy" and "Quotes a 'la Happy". They can all be found on my ippity sales blog with information on how to buy them.

Thank you for stopping by!

Hippity Hop!

Hi! Its Monday and time for Hippity Hop!If this is your first stop you should probably head on over to the Ippity Blog to get a list of people participating in this blog hop and to get a look at the awesome challenges you could do. There is also a great prize that you could win for doing the challenges!

Boy! Time is going WAY to quickly!! It is already the middle of March. Before we know it summer will be here again. And then Christmas! If you have been following my blog you already know that I have been trying to complete my Christmas cards early this year. I have joined up with the Christmas Card Challenge on Splitcoast Stampers and also taking part in the weekly challenges at Jingle Belles in order to keep my mojo going. Today I have a Christmas card to show you! I did this one using the Ippity Hippity Hop Twist Challenge Sketch Challenge for this month. Here it is!

I used two ippity stamp sets for this one. The tag stamp is from the "Season of Joy" set and the sentiment and mistletoe is from "Kissmas and Mistletoe" set. Check out my sales blog for info on how to get these or any other ippity sets. I embossed the tag, sentiment and the mistletoe using Martha Stewart embossing powder and heat gun. The ribbon is adhesive ribbon also from Martha Stewart. The jewels are from Hero Arts.

I will have more cards to share with you tomorrow so stop by and take a look!

Thanks for visiting! Make sure you continue on the hop to see all the other creations!

Jingle Belles "ROCK"!

Have you been over to the Jingle Belles blog yet? If you want a great place to go to get inspiration to get you Christmas cards done then that is the place for you! They put up a challenge every week and you get one chance for every card made during the month to win prizes! Isn't that awesome! So, you get inspiration, motivation, less stress at Christmas by having your cards done, and the chance to win prizes. I don't see how you could lose!

This week the challenge is to make a card with print on it. You could use the print as a background or an accent. You could also use a sentiment and make that the main focus of your card. Here is what I made:

I used a page from a Christmas magazine as the background print. I also distressed the cardstock behind the print a little bit. Then I added some ribbon and the sentiment, which came from the Ippity set "Season of Joy". The tag stamp around the sentiment came from the same set. The bird came from another Ippity set, "Sing A New Song". (These stamp sets can be ordered from my Ippity Sales Blog.) I embossed all the stamping with Martha Stewart embossing powder and heat gun.

Thank you for visiting my blog! I will have another Christmas card to share with you on Friday for the Friends With Flair blog hop. Maybe I will have a couple of cards...we'll see!

Hippity Hop and All Things Unity

Hi! Its Hippity Hop time again! WOOT WOOT! If this is your first stop on the hop and you want to start at the beginning then you should go on over to the Ippity Blog to get a list of participating blogs and to get a look at this months Hippity Hop Twist Challenge where you can win some very cool prizes just for making something crafty!

The project I am going to share with you today is a project that I did for the All Things Unity challenge. This week, the challenge is to use Unity or Ippity Stamps to make an altered item. My grandmothers birthday is coming up so I decided to do an altered glass container for her and fill it with all kinds of goodies. Here is the containers before picture:

The top looks green but that is just the reflection of my green kitchen wall. It is actually chrome.

Here is the after pictures:

I used an Ippity set that had never seen the ink before and I am glad I did! I love it! The set is from the newest release and is called "Sing A New Song". The brown ribbon is from Martha Stewart and it is the adhesive ribbon. Oh! I used another Ippity set for the tag! That is the "Season Of Joy" set. I also used Martha Stewart heat embossing powder for the sentiment as well as the bird. By the way, if you need any Ippity stamps check out my sales blog for information on how to get them.

Thank you for visiting! Now, hop on over to the Ippity Blog to see who is next!

Three Birds With One Stone!

Happy Sunday! Today I am posting a card that I made for not one, not two, but THREE challenges! I love it when I can take inspiration from more than one challenge and make something that fits in all. That is a challenge itself! So, here it is:

First, I used the Sketch Challenge for week one of the January Hippity Hop Twist Challenge at Splitcoast Stampers. Then I used the rules for this weeks Jingle Belles challenge: No Red. I also used one of my favourite Unity/Ippity stamps, from the "Season of Joy", which includes the Joy stamp as well as the Holly and the Tag stamp, so it can be entered into this weeks "All Things Unity" challenge.  This set as well as any other ippity set can be purchased on my sales blog.

So there you have it. Three birds with one stone...er...card!

Thanks for stopping in!

FWF Friday and its Christmas!

OK, not really. But, the weather we are having makes it feel more like Christmas than it did in December! You know whats better than Christmas? FRIDAYS!! And with Fridays bring the "Friends with Flair Blog Hop" by Unity. If you just started here you can go on over to the Unity Blog to get all the details and the list of blogs to visit.

Here is my card for today:

Yep! Another Christmas card! This one was done last month as a part of a One Sheet Wonder template I found online. I wish I could remember exactly where I found it but I can't! I know it was over on SCS...somewhere. I used a stamp from the "Season of Joy" ippity set that came out in the Spring 2010 collection. If you are interested in ippity you can visit my sales blog as well, since I am an ippity chick!

Thanks for stopping in! Now, continue on to see the rest of the creations!

H{Ippity} Hop Monday!

Yay! Its Monday! I know, I know...Mondays are yucky...I hear ya! But, Mondays mean H{ippity} Hop so its not all bad! If you are here for the blog hop you should probably stop over at the {ippity} blog to get a list of participants and to get the low down on how you can possibly win a prize by joining into the Hippity Hop Twist Challenge over at Splitcoast Stampers (SCS).

Now, on to my card. This time I made a Christmas card. Imagine! Me! The Grinch making Christmas cards in February! Its not a secret that I am not a big fan of the Christmas holiday. One of the reasons why I don't like it is because of the stress of having to get everything done and, like most moms, having to do most of the work myself. So, this year, I have joined the Christmas Card Challenge at SCS and also taking part in the challenges posted at Jingle Belles, just to see if some of the stress can be taken out by having my cards done in plenty of time! This card was done for the current Jingle Belles challenge, which was to use something warm on a card...mitts, hats, felt...whatever you felt was warm.

I used a Unity Set for the Hat and the Mittens. The Warmest Wishes sentiment came from the "Season of Joy" set from the Spring 2010 collection. You can get your {ippity} fix on my sales blog as well, since I am an {ippity} chick!

Thanks for visiting!! Hop on over to the next one on the list to see some more great projects!

H{Ippity} Hop, November 22nd

Its Monday! That means it is time for the H{ippity} Hop to show you guys the beautiful things you can make with {ippity} stamps! You should have just come from the much talented Kelly. If not then you can start here at the beginning to get the rules and the lowdown on what prizes you can win!

So, I am still working hard on my Christmas cards. I went to a "Stamp-a-stack" party this past Friday but there are still a few personal cards that I have to make. I decided to make one to my in-laws from my kids and I think it turned out pretty good! I got the idea from a card on scrapbooks etc. and just tweaked it to meet my needs. Here it is!

For this one I used the small snowflake in the "Season of Joy" set to stamp the blue cardstock with using both silver and blue ink. I framed the picture to make it look like a polaroid shot and added a little bling to each snowflake.

If you are interested in this set or any of the others please visit my {ippity} page. Remember, if you purchase $40 worth you can get an additional set or an acrylic block for 45% off!

Now, go to the awesome Lynns page!!

Hip Hop, November 18th

YIPPEE!! Today is the day that we have all been waiting for! The new Fall 2010 Collection of {Ippity} stamps are available for everyone to get!! I hope you enjoy them!! I have created a project for this hop...unfortunatley I was a little late ordering the new release and, well, everyone knows that mail coming from the USA to Canada can take some time. So, I had to use the older releases which, if you haven't got them yet, are so worth getting!! I love each and every set of {Ippity} stamps that I have!

You should have came from the wonderful Jen Marie but if not, you can start at the beginning on the Unity Blog.

Here is my creation.

I used the "Season of Joy" {ippity} set again!! I couldn't resist it! There was a challenge over at SCS on the {ippity} forum to make a non-traditional colored christmas card so I thought that this set would be perfect. This has to be my favourite of the {ippity} sets that I own so far.

Up next on the hop is the talented Jen! I can pretty much guarentee you will like what she has created!!

Its Unity Friends with Flair Blog Hop Nov. 12!

This is the Unity Friends with Flair Blog Hop!! For the rules on how to win prizes please visit the Unity Stamp Co. Blog.

I love these blog hops and challenges because it gets me stamping and there is no better method of progressing your talent like practise, right? So, here it is! My first christmas card of the season and my first christmas card using stamps!

For this card I used two {ippity} stamp sets, "Season of Joy" and "Kissmas and Mistletoe"". If you looked at the rest of my blog you will also think that these are the only two stamp sets I own!! Its not...but right now these are my favourite! There is just so many things you can make with them!!

H{ippity} Hop, November 8

I cannot believe that the first week of November is gone already!! Wow! Time is going too fast! With the time flying like it is I started to think about what I will be sending to school with my 8-year-old at christmas for his classmates. I stumbled upon a tutorial for this lovely hot cocoa slider on Kerrys PaperCrafting Blog. You can visit the link to make these wonderful little gifts here. Make sure you take a look at the rest of Kerry's stuff...she is amazing!

I think the kids in Jarod's class will love them! These are the colors that I have picked for the girls...I don't think the boys would appreciate pink!! They are so quick and easy to do that I just may get Jarod to help me with them...wish me luck!

The stamps that I used are from the "Seasons of Joy" stamp set by {Ippity}. It seems to be my favourite set so far since this is twice that I have used that set in a week!

For a full list of names and to continue on the blog hop visit the Unity Opportunity Blog. Thanks for visiting my page!!!

Christmas Gift Card Holder

So, today didn't start out all that well...I was still getting over a stomach bug that swept through out house over that last couple of weeks (yippee...) and didn't feel up to very much. I worked from my bed this morning but around lunch time I needed to get out for a few minutes. This is where my day gets better. I decided to go to the Post Office to check my mail and found that I got my first shipment of {ippity} stamps! YAY! Now, I have to admit that I am pretty green when it comes to stamping and I have never heat embossed in my life! (I just got a Martha Stewart heat tool this past Friday.) I have no idea what made me try both of these "new" things on the same project...the first project that I am adding to this post...but I did it anyway!!

So, here it is.

Please excuse the color of the giftcard...it don't really "go" with the color scheme but it was all I had on hand! Did I come up with this pattern all on my own, you ask? Well, I would LOVE to say yes, but no...I got this from the gallery on splitcoast stampers. Here is the link to the original card holder that I spied!  http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/420179

Now to tell you how I made it!

First, I cut the pieces as follows:
  • Purple
    • 4" x 9 1/4" (base of the card)
    • 3 3/4" x 4" (front of the card)
  • Patterned
    • 3 3/4" x 2 1/2" (inside back piece)
    • 3 3/4" x 1 1/2" (inside front piece)
    • 2 pieces @ 2 3/4" x 2 3/16" (inside and front for the actual card holder)
  • Black
    • 6 1/2" x 3" (the base of the actual holder)
Here is the picture of all the pieces plus some of the other items I used.

Next I took the 4" x 9 1/4" purple piece and scored it at 5" and got the 3 3/4" x 2 1/2" and the 3 3/4" x 1 1/2" patterned pieces ready to be glued on to the card base. I couldn't find the right piece for the card so I downloaded some digital scrapbboking supplies from a free site and printed it on white cardstock. It worked!

Then I glued the bigger piece on the top of the base and the smaller piece on the bottom.

My cardstock was a lighter purple on the back so when it was folded the front was lighter than the inside. I used the 3 3/4' x 4" piece of dark purple on the front to match the inside.

I then folded the flap down on a slight angle and added a snowflake eyelet to JUST THE FRONT PIECES. I didn't put it through the entire card because then the card holder would not fit in.

Next I took the 6 1/2" x 3" black piece and scored it at 4" and got the other two pieces of patterened paper ready to be glued.

Then I glued a two inch piece of ribbon on the the top, middle of the card holder and looped it over to the back where I gled the other ened, leaving a small piece to be used as a pull to get the gift card holder out of the card.

Next I glued the last of the patterned paper pieces on, one went on the top of the card and covered where the ribbon was glued. The card holder was then folded up and the second piece went on the front. Then the sides of both the main card and the holder were glued to make pockets. Make sure you stay as close to the edges with the glue as possible because the gift card has to fit in there.

The last part was also the most fun part because I got to play with my new toys! I stamped three images from the {ippity} by Unity "Seasons of Joy" stamp set from the Spring 2010 collection, using Martha Stewart "snowflake" pigment ink. Then I embossed with Martha Stewart cerulean embossing powder for the "snowflake" and the "Merry Christmas" stamp and sterling embossing powder for the "warmest wishes" stamp. Heated it up with my new Martha Stewart heat gun and BAM! It was ready for a gift card!

I hope you enjoyed my post!

Patricia
